Groundhog Mountain (West & East)
The perfect introduction to the Avola/Blue River backcountry.
The Vibe: A crowd favourite that offers a little bit of everything.
The Terrain: Groundhog West is ideal for families and intermediate riders, featuring groomed trail access that leads into scenic alpine meadows and rolling hills. For those looking to step it up, Groundhog East offers sub-alpine meadows that transition into steeper, more technical riding as you head south.
Best For: Mixed groups, families, and those looking for a scenic powder day.
Salmon
The Premier Zone for the Hardcore Rider.
The Vibe: This is where you go for the legendary "Steep & Deep" that puts this region on the map.
The Terrain: A mix of high alpine bowls and tight, technical tree riding. It starts with a groomed trail that narrows into complex single-track access.
Best For: Advanced to Expert riders looking to test their skills in deep powder and technical chutes.
Foam Creek
Nature’s Terrain Park.
The Vibe: A playful zone known for its variety and deep snowpack.
The Terrain: Think large rolling meadows, natural "skate park" features, and plenty of steep trees. It is often described as having some of the best variety in the valley, regardless of the weather.
Best For: Intermediate to Advanced riders who want a fun, flowy day in the deep stuff.
Important Winter Info
Staging: Most zones are accessed via the Finn Creek Staging Area, just a short drive from the Log Inn Pub.
Conditions: We are famous for our "Champagne Powder"—STEEP & DEEP that makes for effortless carving.
Safety First: These are backcountry zones. Always check Avalanche.ca reports before you ride, carry the proper gear (beacon, shovel, probe), and respect wildlife closures.
